Ground Broken on Japan's First $8.8B Casino City in Osaka
Construction has officially commenced on MGM's massive integrated resort on Yumeshima Island.
Japan has officially kicked off construction of its first-ever integrated casino resort, MGM Osaka, located on the artificial island of Yumeshima. Backed by a whopping $8.8 billion budget from a consortium featuring MGM Resorts International and Orix Corp, the mega-project is slated to open in 2030. It boasts three hotels with 2,500 rooms, a 3,500-seat theatre, and massive convention spaces. The gaming floor is strictly limited to 3% of the total footprint, yet is projected to pull in $5.9 billion annually.
